Glass Railings

Glass railings for decks, balconies and stairs

Superior Glass & Mirror supplies and installs tempered glass railings for decks, balconies, stairs and interior landings across Oshawa and the Durham Region. Choose frameless spigot or channel systems for an unobstructed view, or post-supported panels for a more budget-friendly look.

Deck and balcony railings

Glass railings keep the view open from your deck or balcony while blocking wind. We install outdoor systems with hardware rated for Ontario weather and salt exposure.

Stair and interior railings

Inside the home, glass railings on stairs, lofts and landings let light move between floors and make the space feel larger. We template each stair run so the panels follow the rake exactly.

Frameless vs post-supported

Frameless systems hold thick tempered glass in stainless spigots or a base channel, with no posts in between. Post-supported railings use aluminum or stainless posts with glass infill panels — a lower-cost option that still looks clean.

Ontario code and tempered glass requirements

Guards in Ontario must meet Ontario Building Code requirements for height and load, and glass used in guards must be safety glass. We use tempered (and where required, laminated) glass and follow the manufacturer’s engineering for each system. Your municipality may also require a permit for new deck guards.

Safety glass only

Tempered and laminated glass selected to suit the system and location.

Measured and templated

Every panel is cut to your deck, balcony or stair run.

Pricing guidance

Glass railing cost is driven by total linear length, system type (frameless vs post-supported), glass thickness and mounting surface. Stairs cost more per foot than straight runs because each panel is cut to the rake. We give free, itemised estimates after a site measure.

Common questions

Are glass railings safe for kids and pets?

Yes, when built with tempered or laminated safety glass and code-compliant heights and hardware.

New decks and guards often need a municipal permit. Check with your town.

Regular glass cleaner or mild soapy water and a squeegee. Avoid abrasive pads on the glass and hardware.
