When fog gets trapped between the panes, the seal on that glass unit has failed. We build a new sealed unit to fit the opening and set it into the frame you already have, for homes in Oshawa and across the Durham Region.
Fog on a window doesn’t always mean the seal has gone. Try wiping it first. Condensation on the room side comes from indoor humidity, and fog on the outside is dew or frost. Neither one needs new glass.
If the haze sits between the panes and won’t wipe off from either side, the seal has failed. Moist air has worked its way into the gap, and the unit can’t be cleaned from inside. The view stays cloudy and the window loses some of its insulating value until the unit is replaced.
A sealed unit is the two or three panes of glass plus the spacer that holds them apart. We replace that part and leave your frame and sash in place, which costs far less than a new window. Low-E coatings and argon fill are available on new units, so you can match what you had or upgrade a plain unit while it’s out.
Start with a photo of the window and a rough size, by phone or through the quote form. That helps us price it quickly, and the quote is free. If you go ahead, we measure the glass on site so the new unit matches the opening exactly. The person who measures your window is the same person who stands behind the install.
Once the new unit is built, we take out the failed one and set the replacement into your existing frame and sash.
Sealed units are custom-built to size and usually take one to two weeks. Tempered and specialty glass can take longer, and we’ll give you a firm date when you order. Single-pane glass is quicker, often cut the same or next business day.
The price depends on the size of the unit, double or triple pane, options like Low-E or argon, and how easy the window is to reach. Replacing the sealed unit costs far less than replacing the whole window, and quotes are free.
If the glass is broken rather than fogged, home insurance often covers it, depending on your policy and deductible. We can provide a detailed quote and invoice for your claim.
Try wiping the fog. If it won’t come off from inside or outside, the moisture is between the panes. That means the seal has failed and the sealed unit needs replacing.
Yes, in most cases. We build a new sealed unit to fit the opening and set it into your existing frame and sash, so the window itself stays in place.
Replacing just the sealed unit costs far less than a new window, and you keep your existing frame. Send a photo and a rough size for a free quote.
Not when the fog is between the panes. Once the seal fails, the inside of the unit can’t be cleaned, so the fix is a new sealed unit.
Usually one to two weeks, since each unit is built to your exact size. Tempered and specialty glass can take longer, and you’ll get a firm date when you order.
